Terms of Service
Last updated: September 29, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of the Sanctus application ("Sanctus", "the app") and its related services. By creating an account or using Sanctus you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Eligibility
To use Sanctus you must be at least 13 years old (16 if you reside in the European Union or the United Kingdom). If you are a minor but older than 13/16, you represent that you have the permission of your parent or guardian to use the app.
2. Description of the service
Sanctus is a Catholic spiritual companion app. It offers:
- Daily liturgical content (Gospel, saint of the day, traditional prayers).
- Interactive features (Lectio Divina, spiritual journal, liturgical gamification).
- Features generated with artificial intelligence (personalized prayers, Gospel context, saint biography).
- Widgets for the device's home screen.
- Sync across devices via Firebase.
Some features require a Premium subscription (section 5).
3. User account
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity carried out under your account.
- You must provide truthful information when you sign up.
- You may not share your account or use another person's account without authorization.
- You will notify us of any unauthorized use at sanctus.app.dev@gmail.com.
4. Content generated by artificial intelligence
Some features generate texts automatically using AI models. These texts:
- Are produced by algorithms and may contain doctrinal, historical or any other kind of inaccuracies.
- Do not replace the pastoral guidance of a priest, spiritual director or other professional.
- Should not be used as the sole source for important decisions of faith.
- Sanctus reserves the right to moderate, filter or remove inappropriate content.
If you find offensive or inappropriate content, report it from the app by tapping the "AI-generated" icon.
5. Premium subscription
Plans and prices
Sanctus Premium is offered as a monthly or annual subscription. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency and are set by the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Free trial
New users receive a 7-day free trial when they subscribe. When the trial ends, the chosen plan is charged automatically, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial.
Automatic renewal
The subscription renews automatically at the price in effect at the time of renewal, unless you cancel it. The charge is made to your iTunes/Google Play account within the 24 hours before the end of the period.
Cancellation
You can cancel automatic renewal at any time from the subscription settings of your Apple ID or Google Play account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Premium access until then.
Refunds
Refunds are governed by the policies of the Apple App Store and Google Play. Sanctus does not process refunds directly. To request one:
6. Referral program
- Each user receives a unique referral code.
- The reward is granted when the friend who used your code makes their first subscription payment (when their free trial ends, or when they subscribe without a trial). Starting a free trial does not generate a reward by itself.
- At that moment you receive 30 days of Premium and your friend receives 7 days of Premium.
- The days are counted from the date on which any Premium you already have ends. If you have a paid subscription that renews automatically, the renewal is charged as usual: the reward days run in parallel to it and you will only notice them if you cancel it.
- A friend's code can be entered or changed until your first purchase (including starting a free trial). After that it is fixed.
- Maximum limit: 12 conversions per account.
- Self-referral (using your own code on another account), creating fraudulent accounts or selling codes is prohibited.
- Sanctus may disqualify suspicious referrals without prior notice and revoke benefits obtained fraudulently.
7. Intellectual property
- Traditional liturgical texts (Our Father, Hail Mary, Creed, Psalms, etc.) are in the public domain.
- The design, code, the "Sanctus" brand and original materials are the exclusive property of their owner and are protected by copyright.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works without written authorization.
- The reflections you write are yours. By saving them in Sanctus, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to store them and show them back to you. We will not share them with third parties without your consent.
8. Prohibited conduct
By using Sanctus you agree not to:
- Use the app for unlawful or immoral purposes.
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or internal systems.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code.
- Flood the service with automated requests or attempt to disrupt its operation.
- Report false content with malicious intent.
9. Limitation of liability
Sanctus is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We do not guarantee that the service will be free of errors or interruptions.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of AI-generated content.
- Sanctus will not be liable for indirect damages, lost profits or loss of data arising from the use of or inability to use the app.
Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months prior to the event that gave rise to the claim.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, commit fraud or use the service in a way that harms other users or the integrity of the system. You can delete your account at any time from the app or at /delete-account.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may modify these Terms. We will notify you of material changes by email or a prominent notice in the app at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after they take effect constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States. Any dispute will be resolved before the competent courts of Mexico City, without prejudice to the non-waivable consumer rights under the laws of your country of residence.
13. General provisions
- If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in force.
- Failure to exercise any right does not constitute a waiver of it.
- These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Sanctus regarding the service.
